The tomb of Djoser at Saqqara, (2680 BC) Third Dynasty, Old Kingdom . These six levels of Mastaba's diminishing in size form the first Egyptian Pyramid and the earliest stone building of its size. 350 ft at its base, this six layered structure reached 190 ft in height upon completion. The Pyramid was the concept of “Imhotep”, the kings Vizier, Architect, and High Priest of “Ptah”. This pyramid is his greatest achievement and one which stands today as a living monument to his originality and architectural genius. This is Pyramid number one.
