The Temple of “Amun” at Luxor , built by Amenhotep lll (1390-1352 BC), Eighteenth Dynasty, New Kingdom . Later additions to the temple made by Ramesses ll in the Nineteenth Dynasty (1279-1213 BC). Originally the temple had six colossal Statues of "Ramesses the Great", two giant Obelisks, and was connected to the “Temple at Karnak” by an “Avenue of Sphinxes” over 3 km in length. Today, two Statues and one Obelisk remain, the other, a gift to the French by Mohamed Ali in 1829. It stands today at the “Place de la Concorde” in Paris .
